Roots

In our first issue, we feature stories from Chicago and Brooklyn. We proudly embrace these cities as integral parts of our root system. We hope that this issue will spur a look back into your own roots, show them off, cultivate new ones and foster old ones to be deeper, stronger, yummier.

Achor

Food is the anchoring force by which we live and love. Chopping vegetables after a hard day is meditation.  Making a quick sauce with cherry tomatoes is gratification.  Pitting 6 pints of cherries is love, and serving that cherry pie is excitement.  It may be a stretch to call it our religion but I cannot think of a better thing to do on a Sunday morning than having brunch with friends or sitting down to Sunday dinners with family. This issue we travel to find kindred souls who share the same drive anchored in food.  From cultivating salt, to teaching people how to re-frame what food is, to bringing clean water to impoverished communities, they strive to make things better, starting from within and affecting positive change around them.
